# Negative commands: no hables, no comas

> id: conjugation.imperative.negative · category: conjugation · depth: standard · levels: A2, B1 · review: internally_reviewed

**Summary.** All negative commands, for every person, use the present subjunctive: no hables, no coma usted, no salgamos, no vengáis, no se preocupen.

The rule is total: put no (or nunca, nadie, etc.) before the verb and switch to the present subjunctive. Tú: no hables, no comas, no escribas. There are no exceptions — even the eight irregular affirmatives flip: di → no digas, ve → no vayas, sé → no seas.

Usted, nosotros, and ustedes already use subjunctive forms in the affirmative, so for them only the no changes: coma → no coma, salgamos → no salgamos.

Pronouns move in front of the verb in negative commands: dímelo → no me lo digas; levántate → no te levantes.

## Examples
- No hables tan rápido. — Don't speak so fast.
- No te preocupes. — Don't worry. *(Pronoun before the verb.)*
- No vayas solo. — Don't go alone.
