# Affirmative tú commands: habla, come, escribe

> id: conjugation.imperative.tu-affirmative · category: conjugation · depth: standard · levels: A1, A2 · review: internally_reviewed

**Summary.** The affirmative tú command is simply the él/ella present form: hablar → habla, comer → come, escribir → escribe. Stem changes carry over: piensa, vuelve, pide.

To order or ask something of tú, use the third-person singular of the present indicative: habla más despacio, come algo, escribe tu nombre.

Stem-changing verbs keep their change, since the form is stressed on the stem: cierra la puerta, vuelve pronto, pide ayuda.

Eight verbs have short irregular forms (di, haz, ve, pon, sal, sé, ten, ven — see the irregular tú imperatives). Negative commands work differently: they use the subjunctive (no hables).

## Examples
- Habla más despacio, por favor. — Speak more slowly, please.
- Cierra la ventana. — Close the window. *(Stem change kept.)*
- Escribe tu número aquí. — Write your number here.
