# The -zco verbs: conozco, conduzco, ofrezco

> id: conjugation.present.yo-zco · category: conjugation · depth: standard · levels: A2 · review: internally_reviewed

**Summary.** Verbs ending in vowel + -cer/-cir take -zco in the yo form: conocer → conozco, ofrecer → ofrezco, conducir → conduzco. All other present forms are regular.

If a verb ends in -cer or -cir preceded by a vowel, its yo form ends in -zco: conocer → conozco, parecer → parezco, ofrecer → ofrezco, traducir → traduzco. The rest of the present is regular: conoces, conoce, conocemos.

This is a large, productive family — most -ecer verbs belong to it (agradecer, crecer, merecer, establecer).

As with the -go verbs, the present subjunctive inherits the irregular stem throughout: conozca, conozcamos, traduzca. Verbs in -cer after a consonant behave differently (vencer → venzo, a pure spelling change).

## Examples

- Te ofrezco mi ayuda. — I offer you my help.
