Un momentico: the Colombian -ico and its stacked diminutives
Colombia uses -ito like everyone else, but switches to -ico whenever the stem already ends in a t: ratico, momentico, gatico. Diminutives also stack (ahoritica) and attach to words that are not nouns, and almost none of it is about size — it is politeness and warmth.

Explanation
The rule that makes Colombian diminutives recognisable is phonological, not lexical: when the base already ends in a t syllable, -ito would give a stutter, so -ico takes over. Rato → ratico, momento → momentico, gato → gatico, pato → patico, chiquito → chiquitico. Everything without that t behaves normally: libro → librito, casa → casita, café → cafecito. The same -ico appears in Costa Rica, Venezuela, Cuba, Aragon and Navarre, which is why a Colombian and a Costa Rican sound alike on this one point and unlike a Mexican.
Colombians also stack. Once a diminutive is in place, another can go on top: ahora → ahorita → ahoritica, chico → chiquito → chiquitico, and the interior is comfortable attaching diminutives to adverbs and other non-nouns — ya → yaíta, aquí → aquicito, callado → calladito, despacio → despacito. Each extra layer adds urgency, tenderness or hedging, never smallness. Note that Colombian ahorita usually means soon or in a moment rather than the immediate right now of Mexico, so ahoritica is a softening, not a promise of speed.
The function is social. A momentico buys time politely, a favorcito makes a request smaller than it is, un tintico offers hospitality, and a name in -ito or -ica signals affection. This is why diminutives cluster densely in shops, offices and family talk in interior Colombia — they are part of the same register that produces regáleme, a la orden and sumercé. The Caribbean coast uses them noticeably less and leans on -ito when it does, which makes the -ico count a fair rough guide to which side of the country a speaker comes from.
