Word order in questions: verb before subject
After a question word, the verb precedes the subject: ¿dónde vive tu hermano? — never *¿dónde tu hermano vive?

In an information question, the verb comes before the subject, right after the question word: ¿dónde vive tu hermano?, ¿qué dijo el cliente?, ¿cuándo llega el vuelo? Keeping English subject-before-verb order — *¿por qué tú no viniste? — is a classic learner error (though it is heard in Caribbean Spanish).
Object pronouns stay glued in front of the verb, never split off: ¿dónde lo compraste?, ¿por qué no me avisaste?
When a preposition is involved, the whole prepositional phrase fronts together: ¿con quién fuiste?, ¿de qué se trata?, ¿a qué hora abre? The subject, if expressed, follows the verb.
