It frequently stacks with other particles (ya pues, eso pues) and with nomás. Highland speech uses it constantly; one per sentence makes you sound local, while chaining several marks a very casual register.
Unlike Mexican pues (which often reasons, 'well…'), the Bolivian pue' is purely pragmatic seasoning, and its clipped forms combine freely: ya pe, no pe, eso pe. Placed after an imperative it adds mild urgency or obviousness (apúrate pe), so the same word can soften or press depending on intonation.
