¿Qué? vs ¿cuál?
Qué asks for definition or before nouns (¿qué libro?); cuál selects from a set and is standard before ser when not defining: ¿cuál es tu correo?

Both can translate as 'what/which', but they ask different things. Qué asks for a definition or identification, and is the choice directly before a noun: ¿qué es la quinua? ('what is quinoa?'), ¿qué libro querés? Cuál asks you to select from a set of possibilities: ¿cuál preferís? ('which one?'), with plural cuáles.
The famous trap is before ser. When you're not asking for a definition, Spanish uses cuál: ¿cuál es tu dirección? ('what's your address?'), ¿cuál es el problema? The English-speaking brain produces *¿qué es tu dirección?, which actually asks for a philosophical definition of 'address'. Reserve ¿qué es…? for genuine 'what is X?' definition questions.
Before a noun, careful usage prefers qué (¿qué color querés?), although cuál + noun is widespread in Latin America (¿cuál color?). Both are understood; qué + noun is the safer standard in writing.
