Negative words: nada, nadie, nunca, ninguno, tampoco, ni

Erklärung

The negative words come in pairs with their affirmative counterparts, and you swap them in negative contexts: algo/nada ('something/nothing'), alguien/nadie ('someone/no one'), siempre/nunca ('always/never'), alguno/ninguno, también/tampoco ('also/neither'), and o…o / ni…ni ('either…or / neither…nor').

So ¿quieres algo? is answered no quiero nada; me gusta — a mí también, but no me gusta — a mí tampoco. Ni…ni coordinates two negatives: no habla ni inglés ni francés, no vino ni llamó.

Two specifics: ninguno is almost always singular and shortens to ningún before a masculine noun (ningún problema, ninguna opción); and jamás is an emphatic nunca (jamás lo haría). All of these obey the double-negation rule when they follow the verb.
