Explication

Time adverbs locate an action in time. Calendar points: hoy, ayer, mañana, anoche ('last night'), anteayer ('the day before yesterday'), pasado mañana ('the day after tomorrow'). Relative timing: pronto ('soon'), tarde, temprano, ahora, luego, enseguida.

The crucial pairs are ya and todavía/aún. Ya = 'already' (ya terminé), and ya no = 'no longer' (ya no fumo). Todavía/aún = 'still' (todavía trabaja allí), and todavía no / aún no = 'not yet' (todavía no llega). Mixing these up is a frequent error.

Regional note: in much of Latin America recién + a verb means 'just (now)': recién llegué ('I just arrived'), recién lo vi. In Spain that idea is usually acabar de + infinitive (acabo de llegar).
